Other Naval Ships - Across the US
I had the privilege of visiting ships in Boston Harbor and Philadelphia.
Boston:
The USS Constitution - Old Ironsides - the Oldest Commissioned Warship afloat in the world - the ship is being dry docked for repairs and inspection in 2015-17. "The ship is expected to be back in the water by 2017. "By spring or summer 2018 it should return to its familiar spot on Pier 1 at the Navy Yard."
Philadelphia:
USS Becuna - Submarine - 1944 BALAO Class submarine - 1951 the Becuna was modified to a GUPPY 1A Class Submarine
USS Olympia - Cruiser - oldest steel warship afloat. Best known the flagship in the Battle of Manila Bay.
In our backyard in Buffalo, NY
USS The Sullivans - named for five brothers who lost their lives in the Battle of the Solomon Islands is a Fletcher Class Destroyer launched April 4, 1943.
USS Croaker - Gato Class submarine launched December 19, 1943
